Yellow Dahlia

There was only one yellow dahlia that
survived the two years I didn't care for my garden.
I decide to divide it, now I got five of them!

Afternoon Happenings

At the afternoons my garden can be easily divided into the cool and warm side.

On the warm side there are the lively, energetic bright colors.
You can find red roses, yellow dahlias and orange sassafras leaves all over the place.

Now onto the cool side. This side feels calm and soothing
with greens, blue sage and a purple clematis vine climbing on the fence.
This side is like a woodland, I got mushrooms growing here and there.

Next Year's Butterflies

It's October 28th. The days are getting shorter and shorter and, colder and colder.
So I never thought  that  I would have swallowtail caterpillars at my garden this late in season.

Three of them are busy eating all day long at one of my parsley plant, including a tiny one!

Papilio polyxenes on Petroselinum Crispum

I also have two more at my Fennel plant.

Papilio polyxenes  on  Foeniculum Vulgare

I was a little disappointed after I bought  bronze fennel because I had  read somewhere that swallowtails prefer parsley or regular green fennel over the bronze fennel. But I have many more parsley plants throughout my garden, and a mom butterfly chose to lay eggs on bronze fennel. YAY!!

Papilio polyxenes  on  Foeniculum Vulgare
This is the first year I pay attention to butterflies, so I don't know if it is normal in butterfly world to be this late in caterpillar stage. I guess these caterpillars will go in chrysalis and hibernate until spring. It's just that I have never payed attention to what butterflies do at this time of the year until now.

We never stop learning and learning is fun!!

You may ask, "Why do you get excited to have these bugs in your garden?"
Because out of them come these beautiful butterflies.

Mid October at Leticia's Garden

Agastache 'Tutti Frutti'

Joining  May Dreams Gardens for Garden Bloggers Bloom Day.

Well, fall and October are here! And my garden is full of flowers, very happy about this!
Unlike the other years, that I end up having the usual mums,
this year I got plants blooming and I'm proud to say they are not only mums.

Salvia 'Dancing Dolls'

Snapdragons

This cone flower is blooming at full speed!

These Dahlias, have been blooming all the way from spring non stop!
I love when the petals mix with the ground cover plumbago.

Fall phlox, Phlox Paniculata

White Wood Aster, Eurybia divaricata

Bleeding Heart, Dicentra 'King of Heats'

Bleeding heart is one of the plants that I'm very happy to have!
They like shade, for so long I've looking for a plant for my full of shade corner.
It blooms in the spring and then again at the fall.

Bleeding Heart, Dicentra 'King of Heats'

Salvia 'Hot Lips'

Black eyed Susan

Small's Beardstongue, Penstemon smallii

Penstemon and salvia.

Lantana still full of flowers! A very good plant to have, it provides nectar for butterflies
from spring 'till frost. I like to use it as a backdrop to showcase my yellow dahlia.

Mistflower, conoclinium coelestimun

Anemone 'Pretty Lady Emily'
I can't believe how pretty these anemones are!
The one above grows up to 20", good for the front of the border. And the one below
grows up to 2', for the back of the border. And they are great for the shaded areas.

Anemone 'September Charm'
And these are some of the flowers at my garden in October. Thank your for reading!

Hi!!

Hi everyone! After this long time, I finally have some energy to come here and write something.

As many of you know, and for those of you that don't know,
I have some conditions that give me terrible fatigue that drains all the energy out of me!
I have been dealing with it for many years. And I have learned that the best thing to do when
I get tired, is to just do the basics: only take care of my kids
and leave everything else for when I get my energy back.

I'm very thankful to God that I'm feeling much better lately!
I really miss writing things and sharing my pictures on this blog.

I also want to say that I'm so sorry that I haven't reply to your comments.
